The Indian Association of Social Sciences and Health (IASSH)is a registered society. The major objectives of IASSH are to bring together scientists, research scholars, practitioners, and policy makers from various disciplines in one forum to explore and work in the areas of social and cultural dimensions of illness, health and health care in the country, to strengthen networking with similar organizations in India and abroad, linking social scientists, health scientists, health activists and policy makers and to initiate measures to evolve an equitable health care system in the country through appropriate and affordable health sector reforms.
TheIASSH held its first conference in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, in November 2003, the second conference in Mumbai in February 2005, the third conference in Delhi in April 2006, the fourth conference in Surat in February 2007, and the Fifth conference in Bhubaneswar in April, 2008. The Sixth Conference is being held in Pondicherry during March, 2009 in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences & International Studies, Pondicherry University, Puducherry.

Call for Abstracts:
Abstract should be submitted through e-mail attachment : seventhiassh@gmail.com .Abstract of papers on topics relevant to the Symposia / Technical themes should be within 300 words, submitted by January 10,2010 and full paper by February 10,2010.Your abstract should concisely address study objectives, hypothesis or description of the problem, methodology, results, conclusions and policy and program implications if any. All submission must be in English.
Abstracts must be received on before January 5, 2010, and full paper by February 10,2010.
Individuals may submit at most two abstracts indecating the the name of the presenter with underlined.
Abstract may be submitted for ORAL PRESENTATION or POSTER PRESENTATION or for BOTH. Participants who does not want to submit abstract can attend the conference as an OBSERVER by paying non refundable registration fee.
In the present conference there will be two best research paper awards to the young scholars less than 30 years of age and should submit single author research paper. Interested young scholars should submit abstract of paper and mention "For Young Scientist Research paper award" and send through e-mail attatchment : seventhiassh@gmail.comon or before January 5, 2010 . Full paper should reach by February 5, 2010 as an e-mail attachment, with out which the name will not be listed for the competation

Registration fee covers:
Food, accommodation in suitable Guest Houses / Hostels, and Conference materials. Accompanying person will not receive conference material .Those who wants more comfortable accommodation can stay in nearby hotels on payment basis for which the Local Organizing Committee will extend their co-operation. For Local delegates accommodation will not be provided as the priority is given to out station delegates. Registration closes three working days before the conference date.Travel Grant:
Authors of the accepted abstract for ORAL or POSTER PRESENTATION will be provided III tier AC rail fare. Decision of award of travel grant rests with the review committee on the basis of available funds. Please explore the possibility of obtain TA/DA from your parent organizations which will facilitate more participation of young scholars.

January 5, 2010 : The last date for receiving the Abstract .
February 5, 2010: The last date for receiving full length paper for the young scholar award .
January 10, 2010: Intemation of acceptance of abstracts for ORAL or POSTER PRESENTATION .
January 10, 2010: Travel Grant intimation.
